ARMS Partnership 2019 – Present

In summer 2019, Community Education Project partnered with the Elementary School of Zac Mbao (Dakar, Senegal) through the local Association for the Reinforcement of Math and Sciences (ARMS) to execute a pilot after-school program for up to 800 students. The program aims to teach ESL, inspire love for math and sciences at an early age, and raise performance in those subjects.

We will measure progress throughout the execution of the pilot program, and aim to implement it across the French-speaking countries in the region.

Cedarwood Academy 2010 – 2022

Cedarwood Academy is a school committed to nurturing curiosity and inspiring a passion for knowledge. We pursue intellectual growth, develop imagination, and practice purposeful social interaction in a natural and engaging environment. Cedarwood Academy served preschool, elementary, and middle school children. Due to the safety and security reasons of its last location, Cedarwood Academy halted its operations at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Updates on the status of the program will be posted on the school’s website.

Yunost 2014 – 2020

School Yunost opened its doors  in February of 2014, and was inspired by parents who see the upkeep of cultural traditions as one of the most important elements of their child’s upbringing. School Yunost served the Charlotte community for six years by offering classes to develop Russian language proficiency, theater arts, music, fine arts, dance, and chess for children and adults. The school was closed at the end of the 2020 spring semester during the Covid-19 pandemic.

International New Year’s Celebration for Children (Utrennik)

This is a special tradition, shared by most Russian-speaking children and their families since 1935. Charlotte Utrennik  began as a small gathering here in Charlotte in the early 2000’s, and has become an inclusive and transformative event that transcends cultural barriers. Covid-19 pandemic took a toll on the show and our latest event took place in January 2020.

While the preparations for the Utrennik of 2023 began, due to the current Russia-Ukraine war and its effects on our creative team, it was decided to postpone the event. We are hopeful for the resurrection of Charlotte Utrennik in 2024.
